Staying safe
- •There is not much threat from other people in Andorra, but keep safe on mountains. Don't go too high without knowing what you are doing. See Altitude sickness for more.
- •Drivers are warned to avoid crossing back into France if the Spanish side of the Pyrenees has enjoyed beautiful warm sunshine all day and the road temperatures drop considerably towards the evening – there is danger of black ice from ice melt.
Staying healthy
- •The main hospital in Andorra is the Meritxell (pronounced merichai) Hospital (+376 871 000).
- •Tap water is drinkable, though if you're coming from far away it's possible the local microbes and minerals may upset your stomach at first. As in many places, bottled water is safest.

Real talk
What travelers actually say
Travelers report that Andorra is a calm environment where daily life feels safe and orderly. The primary challenges for visitors are logistical rather than criminal, specifically regarding public transport schedules during holidays and potential connectivity issues like lack of mobile signal at bus stations. Mountain driving requires awareness of weather conditions, as roads can be closed due to snow. There are no reports of violent crime or specific tourist scams; the atmosphere is described as festive and peaceful, even during busy periods like New Year's Eve.
“It was a cold day but the sun was shining, the central square was full of people, the streets were decorated in a festive mood and everything seemed calm and nice.

“As the road to the other hills was closed due to snow, we returned to the city after watching the sunset.

“That's when it suddenly dawned on us that the phone card we had purchased earlier had no signal here! Luckily there was WIFI at the bus station and immediately messaged the Airbnb host to confirm the location.
