Entry requirements

☐ As of 1 May 2023, most visitors wishing to enter Suriname can stay without a visa for up to 90 days. However, visitors from some countries must first obtain a visa before being allowed into the country. Surinamese visas are documents issued with the stated goal of regulating and facilitating migratory flows. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months.

☐ Passport valid 6+ months beyond your stay

Practical

  • ☐ Plug type C/F, 127V — bring an adapter if yours differs
  • ☐ Drives on the left
  • ☐ Emergency (police): 115
  • ☐ Emergency (ambulance): 115
  • ☐ Emergency (fire): 115
  • ☐ Money: The local currency is the Suriname dollar, denoted by the symbol "$". The notation SRD (which is also the ISO 4217 international currency code) is commonly used to distinguish it from the US dollar. The currency is freely convertible (but nearly impossible to get rid of outside of Suriname except for the neighbouring countries and one exchange bureau in Amsterdam airport).
